What is happening?

MARINE AND COASTAL ACCESS ACT 2009

APPLICATION FOR A MARINE LICENCE IN RESPECT OF THE PLACEMENT OF DREDGED MATERIAL AT COPPERAS BAY, STOUR ESTUARY

Notice is hereby given that Harwich Haven Authority of Harbour House, The Quay, Harwich, Essex, CO12 3HH has applied to the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, Part 4, for a marine licence to undertake the placement of maintenance-dredged material adjacent to the seaward toe of the Parkeston tidal defence (an existing sand and shingle bank) at the eastern end of Copperas Bay in the Stour Estuary.

However, we will also accept representations via the following formats:

  • By letter addressed to Marine Management Organisation, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7AR

In all cases, correspondence must:

    • Be received within 28 days of the date of the first notice 24th October 2025

    • Quote the case reference; and

  • Include an address to which correspondence relating to the representation or objection may be sent.

The Marine Management Organisation will pass to the applicant a copy of any objection or representation we receive.
