What is happening?
MARINE AND COASTAL ACCESS ACT 2009 APPLICATION FOR SOLENT GATEWAY 2 GROUND INVESTIGATION SURVEYS
Notice is hereby given that ABP Southampton, Ocean Gate, Atlantic Way, Southampton, SO14 3QN has applied to the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, Part 4, for a marine licence to undertake ground investigation survey work for the proposed Solent Gateway 2 project. Sampling will include the collection of up to 55 boreholes using either cable percussive drilling or sonic core drilling, up to 20 vibrocores and up to 30 grab samples.
Copies of the application and associated information may be viewed online in the MMO's Public Register at: www.gov.uk/check-marine-licence-register
Representations in respect of the application should ordinarily be made by:
- Visiting the MMO's Public Register (www.gov.uk/check-marine-licence-register) and accessing the "Public Representation" section of case reference MLA/2025/00401.
However, we will also accept representations via the following formats:
- By email to marine.consents@marinemanagement.org.uk; or alternatively
- By letter addressed to Marine Management Organisation, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7AR
In all cases, correspondence must:
- Be received within 28 days of the date of the first notice: 16/10/2025
- Quote the case reference; and
- Include an address to which correspondence relating to the representation or objection may be sent.
The Marine Management Organisation will pass to the applicant a copy of any objection or representation we receive.
