Interim Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places

Notice is hereby given that South Lanarkshire Council is undertaking an interim review of polling districts and polling places within South Lanarkshire.

Any elector in the South Lanarkshire Council area, or within a constituency which has any part in the South Lanarkshire Council area, is invited to make a representation or to comment on any changes to current polling districts and/or polling places.

The council would also welcome the views of all residents, particularly disabled residents, and in addition invites any person or organisation with expertise in access for people with any type of disability to make a representation or to comment on any changes to current polling districts and/or polling places.

The indicative timetable for the review is as follows:-

1.  Publication of Notice of Review on council website with consultation documents (including current polling arrangements, maps and online feedback form) - Friday 10 October 2025

2.  Consultation - Representations sought from interested parties on current Polling Scheme and proposed changes -Friday 10 October to Friday 31 October 2025

3.  Full Council to consider final proposals, having regard to any comments/feedback received - Wednesday 10 December 2025

4.  Approved scheme to be published on council website and advised to interested parties/key stakeholders - Friday 19 December 2025

Any representations or comments on the review should be made by completion of the online consultation form, which can be found on the council’s website, no later than Friday 31 October 2025. Alternatively, representations or comments can be sent to the email address included at the bottom of this notice, again by no later than Friday 31 October 2025. Where relevant, representations should include suggestions for alternative polling places.

As part of this review, the Returning Officer will provide comments on the current polling districts and polling places, likely by the end of November 2025. The Returning Officer’s comments will be made available on the council’s website. All representations made by any person in connection with the review will be open to public inspection and also be published on the council’s website. The final decision on the review and copies of relevant correspondence issued by the council will also be published on the council’s website.

Consultation documents are available for your consideration on the council’s website at  www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk or you can arrange to inspect these documents in person on weekdays at the Election Office, South Lanarkshire Council, Election Office, 21 Beckford Street, Hamilton ML3 0BT between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm.
