What is happening?

Explosives Regulations 2014

Notice is hereby given that in pursuance of regulation 14 of the Explosives Regulations 2014 (ER2014), UTM Ltd has made a request to Suffolk County Council Trading Standards for their assent to vary the licence currently held for the increase of storage of explosives at UTM Ltd, Hampstead Avenue, Mildenhall, Suffolk, IP28 7AS.

A copy of the application and the draft licence is available to view at Trading Standards, Landmark House Visitor Centre, 4 Egerton Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 5PF. This may be inspected by interested persons and will be available Monday to Thursday, 9am till 5pm and Friday 9am till 4pm. Viewing will be appointment only by contacting 01473 264859 and quoting ref 155228.

Anyone who wishes to make representations on matters affecting the health and safety of persons other than the applicant’s employees that may arise out of the variation of the licence should send those representations to:

Any representation must be made within 28 days of the date of publication of this notice.

This variation request is to increase storage facilities for further holdings of Type 4 explosive to meet business and customer’s needs. As site holdings are to increase above 2000kg of Type 4 explosive assent is required from local county councils after approval by the Health & Safety Explosive Inspectorate. Safeguarding measures to protect personnel, local businesses and local population have been met to ensure the safety of all. The site has been operating safely with explosive components since 2000.
