What is happening?

MARINE AND COASTAL ACCESS ACT 2009 APPLICATION FOR Hornsea Project Three Wave Rider Buoy Deployment and Recovery

Notice is hereby given that, David King of Orsted (Hornsea Project Three), has applied to the Marine Management Organisation under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, Part 4, for a marine licence to undertake the deployment of four metocean buoys within the existing Hornsea Offshore Wind Farm Project Three DCO Order Limits. The buoys will collect oceanographic information, including tidal currents, wave measurements, water temperature, and water quality data. The equipment is required to be deployed in or after November 2025.

Two buoys will be deployed along the offshore export cable route (ERC) for approximately 18 months, and two within the Generation asset area until the end of construction (anticipated for 2028), with one remaining on site for an additional 3 years. The buoys will be deployed and retrieved from a dedicated vessel.

Representations in respect of the application should ordinarily be made by:

- Visiting the MMO public register at https://marinelicensing.marinemanagement.org.uk/mmofox5/fox/live/MMO_PUBLIC_REGISTER/search?area=3 and accessing the Public Representation? section of case reference MLA/2025.00413;

However, we will also accept representations via the following formats:

- By email to marine.consents@marinemanagement.org.uk; or alternatively

- By letter addressed to Marine Management Organisation, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7AR

In all cases, correspondence must:

- Be received within 28 days of the date of the first notice (29/09/2025);

- Quote the case reference; and

- include an address to which correspondence relating to the representation or objection may be sent.

The Marine Management Organisation will pass to the applicant a copy of any objection or representation we receive.
