North West Yorkshire – Grant of Drought Permits
What is happening?
Notice of the grant of drought permits for the North West Yorkshire area catchments
Following an application by Yorkshire Water Services Limited to the Environment Agency for drought permits in the North West Yorkshire area under section 79A of the Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended), on 25 July 2025 the drought permits were granted by the Environment Agency on 5 September 2025 and will apply until 5 March 2026. The drought permits authorise the reduction of compensation releases from the following reservoirs in the Wharfe, Aire, and Worth river valleys.

• Leeshaw Reservoir
• Springhead Weir
• Doe Park Reservoir
• Hewenden Reservoir
• Eldwick Reservoir
• Reva Reservoir
• Weecher Reservoir
• Embsay Reservoir
• Grimwith Reservoir
• Carr Bottom Reservoir
• Silsden Reservoir
Anyone may inspect the permits as granted, free of charge, during normal working hours at: Yorkshire Water, Western House, Halifax Road, Bradford, BD6 2SZ.
