ENVIRONMENT AGENCY
ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTENTION NOT TO PREPARE
AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT Regulation 5
of the Environmental Impact Assessment
Land Drainage Improvement Works
(Amended) Regulations 1999 SI 1999/1783
Hebble Brook Flood Alleviation Scheme
The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on Hebble Brook in Halifax along Hebble Lane between NGR SE 07614 26322 and NGR SE 07823 26313, a distance of 0.21 kilometres. The proposed improvement works will involve the following: watercourse realignment; construction of a bypass channel; replacement of the surface water headwall; construction of a permanent retaining wall; course screen construction and sewer diversion. The Hebble Brook Flood Alleviation Scheme also includes a new access route and new wetland area which has been granted planning permission (22/00510/FUL) separately.
The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. This determination has considered the environmental sensitivity of geographical areas likely to be affected, the overall nature and scale of the works, and the availability of appropriate avoidance and mitigation measures (that are both routine and standard in nature, and which will be incorporated into the works through the production and implementation of an Environmental Action Plan).
An Environmental Report has been produced which concluded that Hebble Brook Flood Alleviation Scheme is not considered likely to have significant effects on the environment. Standalone assessments undertaken also concluded that there will be no significant effects. Copies of the Environmental Report may be available from the Project Manager through the contact details below.
Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, in writing, to the address specified below, within 30 days of the date of publication of this notice.
