Declaring Street to be Highway Maintainable at Public Expense Following Street Works – Land to the Front of 229 and 231 Mosley Common Road, Tyldesley

Section 228 Highways Act 1980 (“The Act”), Land to the Front of 229 and 231 Mosley Common Road, Tyldesley

In connection with proposed future development works, street works are to be executed by Wigan Borough Council on the land to the front of 229 and 231 Mosley Common Road, Tyldesley. Some of the land where the said street works are due to be carried out is not a highway maintainable at the public expense, nor is it registered with the Land Registry. Despite enquiries having been made, no legal owner of that unregistered land has been identified.

Wigan Borough Council is now looking to exercise the statutory procedure under Section 228 of the Act, hereby giving notice and declaring the relevant land as adopted highway, maintainable at the public expense. Copy notice and plans may be inspected at Wigan Council, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN during normal office hours 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

Any person who believes he/she/they owns the land or who has any information on its ownership should contact quoting reference RD/LS/DZB/6888170 to D.Birchall@wigan.gov.uk no later than 25th September 2025. Notice will be given once the street works have been carried out to declare the street to be adopted, maintainable at the public expense, and such land shall become highway if no objection or challenge is raised in relation to this S228 Notice.

Public Bridleway Tyldesley No.98 (Part) – Temporary Diversion Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Public Bridleway Tyldesley No.98 (Part)) (Temporary Diversion) Order 2025.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from using, public bridleway Tyldesley No. 98 from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371334 402210, to Point B where the bridleway continues east as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371441 402015 for a distance of approximately 107 metres in an easterly direction, for a period of 6 months, commencing on 5th September 2025.

An alternative route for traffic is available from Point A as shown on the Order Map to Point B as shown on the Order Map in a generally easterly direction for distance of approximately 117 metres

The Order is necessary to safeguard the public while development takes place.
