PUBLIC NOTICE

PROPOSED DISPOSAL OF PLAYING FIELD LAND

Section 77 School Standards and Framework Act 1998

Notice is hereby given that North Yorkshire Council intends to apply to the Secretary of State for Education to dispose of playing field land following the closure of Weaverthorpe Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School, Weaverthorpe, Malton, North Yorkshire, YO17 8ES on 31st August 2022.

To comply with Section 77 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 the Council must consult with various interested parties and members of the public on the proposed disposal.

The area under consideration is approximately 0.29 hectares, and is situated at Weaverthorpe, Malton, North Yorkshire, YO17 8ES.

Any redevelopment of the area would require planning permission and as such would be subject to a separate consultation and approval process.

Views and comments on the proposed disposal of land at the Weaverthorpe Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School site are invited in writing to the Corporate Director - Children and Young People’s Service, by email to schoolorganisation@northyorks.gov.uk

All comments and representations received before the closing date will be taken into account and reported to the Secretary of State as part of the ‘Section 77’ application process.

This consultation will close at 5.00pm on Wednesday 8 October 2025
