NOTICE OF MAKING OF AN EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER
(OTHER THAN AN ACQUISITION EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER)
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, SECTION 118
(HOWELL 19)
EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER 2025
The above order was made on 24th July 2025, under section 118 of the Highways Act 1980. This Order will extinguish the public footpath from a junction with Holwell Road (public road) at TL 1677 3331 then south along the driveway to the former garage block, now Peter House, for approximately 70 metres to TL 1676 3324, then east for approximately 40 metres to TL 1680 3324, then south south east across a play area and recreation ground for approximately 55 metres to TL 1681 3319, as shown on the Order Plan.
A copy of the Order and the Order map may be seen free of charge at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/rowapps or at Front Reception, Hertfordshire County Council, Farnham House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage SG1 2ST by appointment from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday and at North Herts District Council, Council Offices, Gernon Road, Letchworth Garden City SG6 3JF, Public Footpath Diversions, North Herts Council.
Any representation about or objections to the Order may be sent in writing to Richard Cuthbert, Definitive Map Team Leader, Countryside and Rights of Way Service, Hertfordshire County Council, Farnham House PP103, Six Hills Way, Stevenage, Hertfordshire SG1 2ST. Email: row@hertfordshire.gov.uk (ref: NH271 Rands Meadow, Holwell) not later than 5th September 2025. Please state the grounds on which they are made.
If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Hertfordshire County Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
