Northumberland, Proposed Modification To Definitive Map Order For Public Footpaths
What is happening?
Notice of proposal to modify definitive map order
Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
Notice is hereby given pursuant to paragraph 8(2) of Schedule 15 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 that the Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to determine the Northumberland County Council Public Footpaths Nos 24, 25, 26 & 27 (Parish of Wall) Definitive Map Modification Order 2022 proposes to modify the Order by providing for
• Delete all entries in the Order and Order Schedule to Footpath 26.
• Add the heading ‘Limitations’ at the end of the Order Schedule and then insert the following:
*‘Field Gate at point X’
Gap at point G
The specified widths of 1.5 metres will be limited by the presence of established trees in places where the footpath pass within East Wood.
• Delete the text relating to the confirmation of the Order by the Council.
• Remove Footpath 26 from the Order Map.
• Insert ‘X’ at the location of the field gate.
A copy of the Order as submitted and a copy of the Order showing the proposed modification together with the Inspector’s Order decision dated 19 June 2025 have been deposited at Reception, Northumberland County Council, The Queens Hall, Beaumont Street, Hexham, NE46 3LS and at Reception, Northumberland County Council, County Hall, Morpeth, NE61 2EF and may be inspected free of charge during normal working hours.
Any representation or objection with respect to the proposed modification may be sent to Zoe McPhail by email: zoe.mcphail@planninginspectorate.gov.uk quoting reference number ROW/3331052M on all correspondence between 30 July 2025 and 27 August 2025 and should state the grounds on which it is made. Alternatively, this may be sent in writing to Rights of Way Section, Room 3/A, Eagle Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN.
It should be noted that any such representation or objection may be made available for viewing by interested parties at the council offices on request.
