REGULATIONS 2003
In accordance with The Local Authorities (Members’ Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Authority is required to publish details of Members’ allowances paid to Members and co-opted Members. Details of these are available below for the year 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025:

LOCAL AUTHORITIES (MEMBERS’ ALLOWANCES) (ENGLAND) REGULATIONS 2003
MEMBERS’ ALLOWANCES SCHEME FOR BEDFORDSHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE AUTHORITY
In accordance with the requirements of the Local Authorities (Members’ Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003. Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Authority has made a Members’ allowances scheme to take effect for the period from 1 April 2025 until 31 March 2026, having had regard to the recommendations of the Independent Remuneration Panels of its three constituent councils.
The Scheme permits the payment of the following allowances to Members of the Fire and Rescue Authority (FRA) and is reviewed annually to account for any approved change in NJC for Local Authorities’ Fire and Rescue Services, Scheme of Conditions of Service (Grey Book).
Basic Allowance (per Member) – £4,006.48 per annum

Travel Allowances
Cars
Members’ own car: To align with the casual user mileage rate paid to non-uniformed personnel.
Public Transport
Rail (standard class only), bus and taxi (taxi where no other means of transport available) – fares reimbursed as incurred, subject to tickets/receipts being submitted wherever possible.
