Notice is hereby given that Offshore Wind Power Limited, registered under company registration SC605260 at Clava House, Cradlehall Business Park, Inverness, IV2 5GH, United Kingdom, has been granted by the Scottish Ministers:

  • consent under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989;

  • declaration under section 36A of the Electricity Act 1989; and

  • marine licences under section 20 of the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 and section 65 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009;

each with conditions attached, to construct and operate an offshore wind farm (including associated transmission assets) for West of Orkney Windfarm located approximately 28km west of Hoy, Orkney, and 23km north of the Caithness coast with a total area of approximately 657km2 (central latitude and longitude co-ordinates: 58° 54’ 55.686” N., 004° 11’ 34.532” W(WGS84)).

The installed capacity of the proposed generating station will be approximately 2250 MW comprising of up to 125 turbines with a maximum rotor tip height of 359.52m above Lowest Astronomical Tide.

A copy of the decision notice has also been sent to The Highland Council and Orkney Islands Council to be made available for public inspection on the planning register. The decision notice can be viewed at the following locations and times:
