Statutory Notice of Prescribed Alteration proposals to Somerset’s Pupil Referral Units

Notice is given in accordance with section 19 (1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 and the statutory guidance for proposers and decision-makers in ‘Making significant changes (‘prescribed alterations’) to maintained schools issued in March 2025 that Somerset Council intends to make prescribed alterations to its Pupil Referral Units.

The Council proposes that:

(i) South Somerset Partnership School at Dampier Street in Yeovil will close, and Tor School at Beckery New Road in Glastonbury will expand to include the sites from which South Somerset Partnership School currently operates.

(ii) Taunton Deane Partnership College at Byron Road in Taunton will close, and The Bridge School at Westonzoyland Road in Bridgwater will expand to include the sites from which Taunton Deane Partnership College currently operates.

The statutory representation period is from Thursday 10 July to Friday 12 September 2025.
