What is happening?

DEPARTMENT FOR TRANSPORT
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 AND ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT 1981

Notice is hereby given that a Public Local Inquiry in connection with the Order mentioned below will be held by an Inspector appointed for the purpose by the Secretary of State for Transport beginning at 10:00 am on Tuesday 01 July 2025 at The Exchange, Old Market Hill, Sturminster Newton, Dorset, DT10 1FH to hear representations from remaining objectors (as defined in the Compulsory Purchase (Inquiries Procedure) Rules 2007) from any other persons having an interest in the land the subject of the Compulsory Purchase Order and, at his discretion, to hear representations from any other persons who may desire to appear and be heard.

The Order has been made by the Dorset Council under the above-mentioned Acts and submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport for confirmation and is:-

THE DORSET COUNCIL (DINAH’S HOLLOW IMPROVEMENT SCHEME) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2024

This is an Order under Sections 102, 239, 249 and 250 of the Highways Act 1980 and the Acquisition of Land Act 1981, which if confirmed, will authorise Dorset Council to purchase compulsorily the land and the new rights for the purpose of improving the section of existing C13 public highway known as Dinah’s Hollow/ C13 and to afford it protection against landslide or other hazards of nature.

Copies of the Order and plan above have been deposited and may be seen at all reasonable hours free of charge at Shaftesbury Library, Bell Street, Shaftesbury, Dorset SP7 8AE; and Blanford Library, The Tabernacle, Blandford Forum, Dorset DT11 7DW and online at https://www. dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/w/dinahs-hollow-cpo
