NOTICE OF PUBLIC PATH AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDERS

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

NOTICE OF MAKING OF PUBLIC PATH AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDERS

  1. The Oxfordshire County Council, Yarnton Bridleway No. 21 (part), Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2025

  2. The Oxfordshire County Council, Yarnton Footpath No. 25, Public Path Creation and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2025

The Diversion Order made on 12 May 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by diverting, as shown on the Order map:

Yarnton BR21 running from OS Grid Ref SP 4768 1151 southwards for 194m to SP 4768 1132 to a new line running from OS Grid Ref SP 4768 1151 south-westwards for 69m to SP 4763 1147 and south-eastwards for 164m to SP 4768 1132.

The Creation Order made on 12 May 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding, as shown on the Order map:

Yarnton FP25 running from Yarnton FP5 at OS Grid Ref SP 4763 north-westwards for 111m to Yarnton FP23 at SP 4758 1157.

Any representations about or objections to the above Orders may be sent in writing to Countryside Access Legal, Oxfordshire County Council, County Hall, New Road, Oxford OX1 1ND or countrysideaccesslegal@oxfordshire.gov.uk no later than 20 June 2025. Please state the grounds on which they are made. Representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Oxfordshire County Council may confirm the Orders as unopposed Orders. If the Orders are sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation, any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Orders.

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDERS

  1. The Oxfordshire County Council, Middle Aston Footpath No 8 (part), Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2025

  2. The Oxfordshire County Council, Middle Aston Footpath No. 9 (part), Public Path Extinguishment and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2025

  3. The Oxfordshire County Council, Middle Aston Footpath No. 9 (part), Public Path Creation and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2025

On 7 May 2025, the Oxfordshire County Council confirmed the above Orders under sections 119, 118, and 26 of the Highways Act 1980 respectively and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The effect of the Diversion Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by diverting, as shown on the Order map:

Middle Aston FP8 running from OS Grid Ref SP 4763 2697 north-eastwards for 236m to SP 4782 2710 to a new line running from OS Grid Ref SP 4764 2701 east-north-eastwards for 212m to SP 4782 2710.

The effect of the Extinguishment Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by extinguishing, as shown on the Order map:

Middle Aston FP9 (part) running from OS Grid Ref SP 4760 2707 east-north-eastwards for 63m to SP 4766 2708 and north-north-eastwards for 124m to SP 4771 2719.

The effect of the Creation Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by creating, as shown on the Order map:

a 2.5m wide route running from Steeple Aston Road at SP 4762 2698 north-north-eastwards for 235 metres to Footpath No. 9 at SP 4771 2719.

These Orders came into force on the date of confirmation, but if any person aggrieved by an Order wants to question its validity on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (the Act), as amended, and/or the powers of section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA) or on the ground that any requirement of either Act or of any regulation made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act and as applied by s53A(7) WCA within six weeks from 22 May 2025 make an application to the High Court.
