(GRAIN TO TILBURY) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2024

ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT 1981

WHEREAS National Grid Electricity Transmission Plc (the “Acquiring Authority”) has submitted to the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero for confirmation an Order made by them under section 10 and paragraph 1 of Schedule 3 to the Electricity Act 1989 and the Acquisition of Land Act 1981, which would authorise them to acquire compulsorily the land and new rights referred to in the Schedule hereto for the purpose of carrying out the activities authorised by its generation licence under the Electricity Act 1989 and more particularly for the purpose of constructing a new cable tunnel under the River Thames between Tilbury and Gravesend to carry electricity cables, including two new sealing end compounds, two new tunnelhead buildings, new electric lines, gantry structures and temporary construction compounds together with related apparatus, works and infrastructure to facilitate the transmission of electricity within and across the network, and to enable the decommissioning of existing electricity infrastructure.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a four day public local inquiry into this matter will be held by J Burston BSc(Hons) MA MRTPI at Richland House, 25 Wrotham Road, Gravesend, DA11 0PA commencing on Tuesday 3 June 2025 at 10am and to run until Friday 6 June 2025 to hear representations from remaining objectors (as defined in the Compulsory Purchase (Inquiries Procedure) Rules 2007), from any other persons having an interest in the Order land and, at her discretion, to hear representations from any other persons who may desire to appear and be heard.
