Notice of application for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of an inland water using impounding works Northumbrian Water Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence. The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006. The application is for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of surface water at National Grid Reference NY 96 19.
The proposal seeks to replace the relevant sections of the Stockton & Middlesborough Waterworks Act (1876) with a modern impoundment licence and includes seasonal variations to the compensation flow from the reservoir. The impoundment structure is already in place.
