Babergh District Council Adoption Statement for Babergh and Mid Suffolk Biodiversity and Trees Supplementary Planning Document

Notification under Regulations 14 and 35 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended), and the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended).

In accordance with the above Regulations and Act, notice is hereby given that the Babergh and Mid Suffolk Biodiversity and Trees Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) was formally adopted by Babergh District Council on 20th March 2025.

The SPD provides further guidance and detail for the provision of biodiversity and trees within development proposals, supporting the implementation of planning policies contained within the adopted Babergh and Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan Part 1 2018-2037 Development Plan Document (November 2023).

A number of modifications were made to the SPD to take account of representations made in relation to the document and any other relevant matters. Modifications arising from the consultation are set out in the Consultation Statement.

The adopted Biodiversity and Trees SPD, Consultation Statement and this Adoption Statement can be viewed on the Council’s website at www.babergh.gov.uk/w/supplementary-planning-documents.

Hard copies of the Biodiversity and Trees SPD, Consultation Statement and Adoption Statement are available to view at Endeavour House, 8 Russell Road, Ipswich, IP1 2BX, at Sudbury Library, Market Hill, Sudbury, CO10 2EN and at 54 Ipswich Street, Stowmarket, IP14 1AD.

Any person with sufficient interest in the decision to adopt the Babergh and Mid Suffolk Biodiversity and Trees SPD may make an application to the High Court for permission to apply for judicial review of that decision in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended). Any such application must be made promptly and not later than 3 months after the date on which the supplementary planning document was adopted.
