Basildon - Proposed Changes to Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licence Fees

Licence Fees In Respect of Hackney Carriages, Private Hire Vehicles and Private Hire Operators

Section 70 Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976

Take Notice that with effect from 14 April 2025 Basildon Borough Council propose (a) that the fee chargeable for the grant of a vehicle licence in respect of licensed Hackney Carriages operating within the Basildon Council borough shall be increased to £410 for the grant of a new Hackney carriage vehicle licence, shall be increased to £394 for the renewal per annum (b) the fee chargeable for the grant of a vehicle licence in respect of licensed Private Hire Vehicles operating within the Basildon Council borough shall be increased to £357 for the grant of a new Private Hire vehicle licence and shall increase to £342 for the renewal per annum (c) that the fee chargeable for the issue of a Private Hire Operator’s Licence shall increase to £315 of a 5 year period for a single vehicle, £788 per 5 year period for 2-10 vehicles and £1,313 per 5 year period for 11 or more vehicles (d) the fee for the inspection of either a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Vehicle will remain the same at £50 and a missed test fee shall increase to £65.

Any person wishing to object to the above proposed fees should submit details of their objection in writing within 28 days from the date of this Notice to Licensing, Basildon Borough Council, The Basildon Centre, St Martins Square, Basildon, Essex, SS14 1DL or e-mail to: licensing@basildon.gov.uk

In accordance with Section 70(3)(b) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 a copy of this Notice has been deposited at the address above and is open to public inspection.

Licence Fees In Respect of Hackney Carriage Drivers, Private Hire Drivers and Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Drivers

SECTION 53(2) Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976

Take Notice that with effect from 14 April 2025 Basildon Borough Council propose (a) that the fee chargeable for the grant of a driver licence in respect of licensed Hackney Carriages and Private Hire Vehicles operating within the Basildon Council borough shall be increased to £312 per 3 year period for a grant of a new licence and £205 for the renewal for a 3 year period, £268 for the grant of a new licence for a 2 year period and £167 for the renewal for a 2 year period and £237 for the grant of a new licence for a 1 year period and £119 for the renewal per 1 year period.

Any person wishing to object to the above proposed fees should submit details of their objection in writing within 28 days from the date of this Notice to Licensing, Basildon Borough Council, The Basildon Centre, St Martins Square, Basildon, Essex, SS14 1DL or e-mail to: licensing@basildon.gov.uk
