ROYAL BOROUGH OF KINGSTON UPON THAMES
THE COUNCIL TAX 2025/26
The Council of the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames, in accordance with provisions in the Local Government Finance Act 1992, has set the following amounts of Council Tax for the financial year 2025/26 for each category of dwelling as shown below:

Class of Dwelling | Description of class of dwelling | Amount of Council Tax payable from 1st April 2025 |
Class C | A dwelling which is unoccupied and substantially unfurnished | After 1 year, 200% of the Council Tax will become payable as a long-term empty dwelling. (100% Council Tax plus a 100% premium). |
Class C | A dwelling which is unoccupied and substantially unfurnished | After 5 years, 300% of the Council Tax will become payable as a long-term empty dwelling. (100% Council Tax plus a 200% premium). |
Class C | A dwelling which is unoccupied and substantially unfurnished | After 10 years, 400% of the Council Tax will become payable as a long-term empty dwelling. (100% Council Tax plus a 300% premium). |

Class B | A dwelling which is unoccupied but furnished (includes second homes) | From the day the property becomes unoccupied, 200% of the Council Tax will become payable as a second-home dwelling. (100% Council Tax plus a 100% premium). |
Any taxpayers who need help to pay their Council Tax may qualify for a reduction.
