What is happening?

UTTLESFORD DISTRICT COUNCIL

MEMBERS’ ALLOWANCES SCHEME 2025/26

District Councils are required to publish details of the scheme of allowances payable to Members of the Council and recommendations relating to that scheme of allowances. The scheme as set out below was adopted by Uttlesford District Council on 17 December 2024 and will operate in the 2025/26 municipal year.

The Council appoints an Independent Remuneration Panel, who are responsible for recommending the amount of the basic allowance. They also set the special responsibility allowances and any other allowances to be paid, as well as the responsibilities that are applicable. At its meeting on 17 December 2024, the Council received the report of the Independent Remuneration Panel and decided to adopt the following recommendations in respect of Uttlesford District Council’s Members’ Allowances Scheme:

a) Agrees to a rise of 2.7% to the current level of basic allowance.

b) Adopts the changes to the individual SRAs as set out in Appendix A and detailed in the report, for the municipal year 2025/26.

The basic allowance and special responsibility allowances for 2025/26 are set out below.
