ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS FOR
2026/2027

Notice is hereby given that under Regulation 21 of The School Admissions Regulations 2012 as amended, that Wakefield District Council, being the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled primary and secondary schools in its area have determined the admission arrangements for the 2026/2027 school year for admission into:

i. The Reception Year at all community and voluntary controlled primary and infant schools; and

ii.  Year 3 in all community and voluntary controlled junior schools; and

iii.  Year 7 in all community and voluntary controlled secondary schools.

The admission arrangements for other schools which are not community or voluntary controlled schools are determined as set out below:

i.   Voluntary aided primary and secondary schools by their respective governing bodies;

ii.  Foundation schools by their respective governing bodies; and

iii.  Academies and Voluntary Academies by their respective governing bodies

Determination of the admission arrangements at schools maintained by the Authority were made following consultation set out in Regulations 12 to 17 of the School Admissions Regulations 2012. Copies of the determined admission arrangements for Community and Voluntary Controlled schools are available for inspection at: School Admissions, Wakefield One, Burton Street, Wakefield, WF1 2EB or on the Council’s website under School Admissions. Copies of the determined admission arrangements for any Voluntary Aided school, Foundation school, Voluntary Academy or Academy can be obtained from the respective school/academy or by viewing on their website.

Under The School Admissions (Admissions Arrangements and Co-ordination of Admissions Arrangements) (England) (Regulations 2012 sections 21-23), any person or body may object to any admission arrangements for any maintained school or Academy which are unlawful, or not in compliance with the Code or relevant law relating to admissions, subject to the types of objections listed below which cannot be brought:

i. Objections that seek to remove selective arrangements at a maintained school (which are permitted under Section 105 to 109 of the SSFA 1988) or a selective Academy; or ii. Objections about own authority admissions decision to increase or keep the same published admission number; or

iii.  Objections about a decision by the admission authority of a voluntary controlled or community school to increase or keep the same published admission number, unless the objection is brought by the governing body of the school; or

iv.  Objections in respect of an agreed variation from the Code in relation to admission arrangements for an Academy; or

v.  Objections to arrangements which raise the same or substantially the same matters as the adjudicator has decided on for that school in the last 2 years; and

vi.  Anonymous objections.

An objection which a parent can make can be to any aspect of the admission arrangements for the school which do not comply with the mandatory requirements in the School Admissions Code or Part 3 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1988.
