What is happening?

VALE OF WHITE HORSE DISTRICT COUNCIL

Notice of proposed changes in fees for vehicle and operator licences in accordance with section 70 Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976

Vale of White Horse District Council proposes to amend the charges for hackney carriage and private hire vehicles and private hire operator licences as follows:

VEHICLE LICENCES

    • Hackney carriage – zero emission or wheelchair accessible vehicle: £110

    • Hackney carriage – all other vehicles: £389

    • Private hire vehicle – zero emission or wheelchair accessible vehicle: £95

    • Private hire vehicle – all other vehicles: £242

    • Private hire plate exemption (operator of 1-2 vehicles): £184

    • Private hire plate exemption (operator of 3-4 vehicles): £149

    • Private hire plate exemption (operator of 5-9 vehicles): £109

    • Private hire plate exemption (operator of 10 vehicles and over): £104

    • Transfer of licence: £78

    • Change of vehicle: £106

    • Replacement plate: £55

    • Replacement paper licence: £48

  • Miscellaneous admin fee: £46

PRIVATE HIRE OPERATOR LICENCES

Number of vehicles to be operated

    • 1-2 vehicles: £561

    • 3-4 vehicles: £713

    • 5-14 vehicles: £890

    • 15+ vehicles: £1110

    • Change of operator base address: £128

    • Replacement paper licence: £48

  • Miscellaneous admin fee: £46

Any objections to the proposed fees should be sent in writing to the Head of Communities, Vale of White Horse District Council, Abbey House, Abbey Close, Abingdon, OX14 3JE or emailed to licensing.unit@whitehorsedc.gov.uk by 26 March 2025. A copy of this notice has been deposited at the council offices and is available for inspection during office hours until 26 March 2025.

If no objection is made by the date specified above, or if objections so made are withdrawn, the proposed amendments shall come into operation on Tuesday 1 April 2025 or the date of withdrawal of the objection or, if more than one, the last objection, whichever date is the later. If any objections are made, the council will consider the objections and if deemed appropriate any amendments in the fees shall come into force on a date to be determined by the council, which shall be no later than Sunday 1 June 2025.
