CIVIC GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1982
NOTICE OF TAXI FARE REVIEW

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in terms of Section 17(4) of the above Act that the Planning and Regulation Panel of Stirling Council has reviewed the taxi fares tariff for taxis licensed by Stirling Council. Following consultation with the taxi trade the Panel has proposed an increase in fares as detailed below:-

Tariff 1: applies to hires starting between 07:00 and 23:00 excluding bank and noted holiday dates
For the first 0.5 of a mile (standard charge) - £3.50
For each subsequent 83.5 yards or uncompleted part thereof - 10p

Tariff 2: applies to hires starting between 23:00 and 07:00, all day on 1-3 January, Good Friday, Easter Monday, 1st May day holiday, September holiday Monday, 25-27 December and all day on a Sunday:
For the first 0.5 of a mile (standard charge) - £4.10
For each subsequent 66.8 yards or uncompleted part thereof - 10p 

Tariff 3: applies at all times if five or more passengers are carried: 
For the first 0.5 of a mile (standard charge) - £5.60
For each subsequent 52.2 yards or uncompleted part thereof - 10p 

Waiting Time:
First 3 minutes - Free
Each additional minute or uncompleted part thereof - 30p

Extra Charges:
For each person in excess of 1 person up to a maximum of 4 - 20p
For booking a taxi or private hire car by phone or in advance a call subject to maximum of 50p
Soiling charge - £60.00

The proposed fares reflect: (1) an uplift of approximately 3.0% via an increase to the standard charge for Tariffs 1, 2 and 3 and reduction in the incremental distance calculator; and, (2) an increase to the soiling charge of £10.

Anyone wishing to make representation should write to the Council at the address below or by email to civiclicensing@stirling.gov.uk before 7 March 2025 setting out any comments or representations. 

The Council will take these into consideration.

If approved these increases are proposed to come into effect on 9 April 2025.
