What is happening?

Buckland Manor Common Community of Rhymney County of Caerphilly

National Gas Transmission (NGT) has applied to the Welsh Ministers for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Buckland Manor Common.

The proposed works is a repair on NGT’s existing pipeline located on Buckland Manor Common. NGT have a statutory obligation to inspect and repair their asset. This will involve excavating to the location of the defect, using a working area of 40m x 40m to ensure the safe excavation of the pipeline. The excavation itself will be approximately 2.7m depth and the area of 2.6 width x 5m length. The area will be fully fenced off from the public using Heras fencing (2m in height). The repair will take approximately 3 weeks to complete, per site, within the period of April – July 2025.

There are two repairs on Buckland Manor Common which are located north of the Rhymney River, in the centre of the common.

A copy of the application form and map showing the proposed works can be inspected at Rassau Resource Community Centre between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays (not public holidays) until 7th March 2025. Any objections or representations should be sent in writing ON or BEFORE that date to the Planning Inspectorate Wales at Crown Buildings, Cathays Park, Cardiff, CF10 3NQ, or Wales@pins.gsi.gov.uk.

Letters sent to the Planning Inspectorate cannot be treated as confidential. They will be copied to the applicant and possibly to other interested parties.
