Huntingdonshire District - Amendment to Council Tax Policy

What is happening?

PUBLIC NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to Sections 11, 11a and 11b of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, as amended by the Local Government Finance Act 2012, The Council Tax (Prescribed classes of Dwellings)(England)(Amendment) Regulations 2012, and The Rating (Property in Common Occupation), Council Tax (Empty Dwellings) Act 2018, and The Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023, that a resolution was made by Huntingdonshire District Council on 11 December 2024, in respect of the whole of the Huntingdonshire area, to:

i) amend the existing empty homes premium, by reducing the current two

year's limit (of certain conditions being met) to one year with regard to the

100% Council Tax premium with effect from 1st April 2026 and

ii) implement a 100% Council Tax premium on all second homes with effect from 1st April 2026 Further details of the policies will be advertised at a later date.
