What is happening?
NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL
EDUCATION AND FAMILIES EDUCATION (SCOTLAND) ACT 1980 CHOICE OF SCHOOL
Most children attend their local school. However, parents/carers are entitled to request a place for their child in any other school under the management of the Education Authority. Such a request is referred to as a Placing Request.
Information about schools and the procedures to be followed in making Placing Requests are available at every school and by logging onto the North Lanarkshire Council website at https://www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/schoolsand-learning/school-admissions/placing-requests
Placing Request application forms can be completed and submitted via our website. Applications must be submitted by 15th March 2025.
In addition, more detailed information about a particular school is available from that school.

Parents/carers of all children due to start school in August 2025 , including those wishing to make a Placing Request, should proceed in accordance with the advertisement on registration of children which will be published week commencing 6th January 2025.
