STATUTORY NOTICE

Notification of proposal by Buckinghamshire Council to open a Communication and Interaction (Autism) Unit at Overstone Combined School

Notice is given in accordance with sections 15 and 19 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Buckinghamshire Council intends to open a Communication and Interaction (Autism) Unit with effect from 1st September 2025 at:

Overstone Combined School, Church Street, Wing, Leighton Buzzard LU7 0NY

The SEN Sufficiency Strategy for Buckinghamshire identified the need for two 12 place primary age Inclusion Units for children with Communication and Interaction (Autism) at a school in the Wycombe area and in the Aylesbury Vale area. The Local Authority has evidenced that those children and young people, with communication and interaction needs (autism) and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) are our fastest growing area of need in the Aylesbury area. As such, we have concluded that additional resources must be targeted in this area.

Buckinghamshire Council has complied with all applicable statutory requirements to consult in connection with this proposal. At the conclusion of the Notice period, if permission is granted by Buckinghamshire Council’s Leader in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services, Buckinghamshire Council will implement the proposal.
