Community Council Election

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the Local

Government (Scotland) Act 1973, that South Lanarkshire Council (“the council”) has received a valid petition to establish a community council for the Douglas Water and Rigside Community Council area, all in terms of South Lanarkshire Council’s Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils.

Any person on the Register of Electors, for the Douglas Water and Rigside Community Council area, who seeks election to the Douglas Water and Rigside Community Council, must lodge a

completed, signed nomination form.  The form must also be counter signed by a proposer and seconder, both of whom shall also be on the Register of Electors for the Douglas Water and Rigside Community Council area.

Nomination forms are available from the council’s Administration and Legal Services and the council website www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk.  

Completed forms must be returned to the council’s Administration and Legal Services no later than 4pm on Monday 4 November 2024.

A boundary map of the Douglas Water and Rigside Community Council area is available on request. A copy of the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils can also be made available to you on request or via the council website. Contact details are as follows:-

In the event of more valid nominations being received than vacancies available, an election will be held on or around 5 December 2024. Notification of any election will be provided in due course.
