What is happening?

Notice of Application for: Nuclear Reactors (Environmental Impact Assessment for Decommissioning) Regulations 1999

An application and Environmental Statement has been submitted by EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Limited to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) in accordance with the Nuclear Reactors (Environmental Impact Assessment for Decommissioning) Regulations 1999 (herein referred as EIADR). This is submitted with the intention that it provides relevant information to ONR to enable the granting of consent to carry out the dismantling and decommissioning of the Hinkley Point B Nuclear Power Station (Nuclear Site Licence No. 62C).

The application was made by the current Hinkley Point B Nuclear Power Station Nuclear Site Licence Licensee EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Limited, Javelin House, Building 1420, Charlton Court, Gloucester Business Park, Gloucester, England, GL3 4AE. The application was submitted on 30th August 2024. The address of the proposed project is: Hinkley Point B Nuclear Power Station, Near Bridgwater, Somerset TA5 1UD.

The Environmental Statement and other submission documents will be available for inspection at Bridgwater Library, Binford Place, Bridgwater, TA6 3LF from the 9th September 2024 until the 9th December 2024. Opening hours of the library are:

Monday - Thursday: 9:30am to 5pm Friday: 9:30am to 4pm Saturday: 9:30am to 2pm

An online copy of the application and Environmental Statement will also be available to view at https://www.onr.org.uk from the 9 September 2024. We are trying to avoid printing of the Environmental Statement where practicable on sustainability grounds, but printed copies can be obtained upon request at the cost of printing and subsequent distribution. USB Copies of the Environmental Statement and other submission documents may be obtained for a charge of £5. Please contact HPBDecommissioning@edf-energy.com to discuss copies of the documents and arrange delivery. Any persons wishing to make representations about the application should make them in writing to the ONR at Operating Facilities, EIADR, Office for Nuclear Regulation, Building 4, Redgrave Court, Merton Road, Bootle, L20 7HS (EIADR@onr.gov.uk) by 9th December 2024 at 23:59. A copy of this publicity notice and the information referred to in EIADR Regulation 9A(1) will be published on the ONR's website in accordance with EIADR Regulation 9A.
