Brent Council intends to extinguish the exclusive rights in the graves listed above with effect from 4th February 2025. Where there is a memorial on any of these graves, it remains the property of the registered owner of the exclusive rights. However, any memorial not claimed and removed by the registered owner before 4th May 2025 will be removed for disposal.

If Brent Council receives before 4th February 2025 a notice of objection to the extinguishment of the exclusive rights in any identified grave listed above by the registered owner of the rights or by any person who is able to satisfy the burial authority that they are the owner of such rights, and that objection is not withdrawn, Brent Council will extinguish those rights.

If Brent Council receives before 4th February 2025 a notice of objection from any other person to the extinguishment of the exclusive rights in any one or more identified graves listed above and of the ground of any such objection and that objection is not withdrawn, Brent Council will not extinguish those rights without the consent of the Secretary of State for Justice.

As compensation for any exclusive right extinguished with these statutory powers, Brent Council will,

on a claim being made within 6 months from the extinguishment of that right by the registered owner of the

exclusive rights or by any other person who has satisfied the burial authority that they are the owner of such

rights, or has been determined by the Registrar of the Consistory Court of the Diocese to be such owner,

pay him or her such sum representing the value of that right as may be agreed between Brent Council and

the registered owner or such other person or, in default agreement, determined by arbitration.

If you are the registered owner of the exclusive rights in any of the graves listed or a relative of anyone buried

in one of these graves, or know the whereabouts of the family concerned, please contact Brent Council.
