THE BLACKPOOL BOROUGH COUNCIL (MULTIVERSITY) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2024

COMPULSORY PURCHASE OF LAND IN BLACKPOOL

1.  NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Blackpool Borough Council has made on 12 April 2024 The Blackpool Borough Council (Multiversity) Compulsory Purchase Order 2024 under Sections 226(1)(a) (as amended) and 226(1A) of The Town and Country Planning Act 1990. It is about to submit this order to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities for confirmation, and if confirmed, the order will authorise Blackpool Borough Council to purchase compulsorily the land described below for the purposes of facilitating the carrying out of development, redevelopment or improvement on or in relation to such land by an education-led mixed use development including a new higher education campus together with further education floorspace and/or commercial office/ research and development floor-space and associated and ancillary uses together with new public realm and landscaping, highway works and other associated works.

2.  A copy of the order and of the accompanying map may be seen at all reasonable hours at Bickerstaffe Office Reception, Blackpool Council, Number One, Bickerstaffe Square, Blackpool, FY1 3AH, and Town Hall Reception, Blackpool Town Hall, Talbot Square, Blackpool, FY1 1AD.

3.  A copy of the order and of the accompanying map and the Statement of Reasons and documents referred to in the Statement of Reasons can be viewed online at www.blackpool.gov.uk/multiversityorder.

4.  Any objection to the order must be made in writing to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities addressed to: the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Planning Casework Unit, 23 Stephenson Street, Birmingham B2 4BH, before 24 May 2024 and should state the title of the order, the grounds of objection and the objector’s address and interests in the land.
