What is happening?

MOLE VALLEY DISTRICT COUNCIL
REVIEW OF COUNCILLORS’ ALLOWANCES
Mole Valley District Council, after having regard to the recommendations of an
independent remuneration panel, has approved a new Scheme of Allowances for
Councillors, which shall come into effect on 1 April 2024, the main features of which
are as follows:

The levels of basic allowance, special responsibility allowances, dependants’ carers’
allowance and co-optees’ allowance will be increased annually in line with the
percentage increase in Mole Valley District Council staff salaries until 2028 (at which
time the Scheme will be reviewed again by an independent remuneration panel).
All of the recommendations made by the independent remuneration panel were
adopted by the Council.
The new Scheme of Allowances, together with the Independent Remuneration Panel’s
Report, may be viewed on the Council’s website: www.molevalley.gov.uk
A copy of the Scheme of Allowances is available for inspection at the Council Offices
during normal office hours. Copies may also be purchased for a small fee to cover
copying costs. Any person wishing to obtain a copy of the Scheme should contact:
