HALTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
PUBLIC NOTICE

In accordance with Section 38 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at a meeting held on 6th March 2024 the Council for the Borough of Halton approved and set a Council Tax in respect of the period commencing on the 1st day of April 2024 and ending on 31st day of March 2025.

The amount of Council Tax set is shown in the table below for the different bands and areas.

Council Tax Discounts

This is a statutory notice that the Council has made determination under sections 11B, 11C and 11D of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 (as amended or inserted by the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023) that with effect from 1st April 2025, the following locally set changes to Council Tax will apply: All long-term empty dwellings as defined by section 11B of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 (all dwellings which have been empty for longer than one year other than those in Class E and Class F).

The long-term empty homes premium charged on dwellings unoccupied and substantially unfurnished for one year, rather than two. 200% of full Council Tax payable.

A dwelling which is furnished, which is no-one’s sole/main residence, often referred to as a “second home”, 200% of full Council Tax payable. Reference to classes is those prescribed by the Council Tax (Prescribed Classes of Dwellings) (England) Regulations 2003 (as amended)
