PUBLIC NOTICE

DURHAM COUNTY COUNCIL

LOCAL GOVERNMENT FINANCE ACT 1992 - SECTION 38

Notice is hereby given that Durham County Council, at its meeting on 28 February 2024, set the following amounts of council tax for the year commencing 1 April 2024 for each band and each of its areas. This is having calculated the aggregate of its own basic council tax, the precepts of the Durham Police, Crime and Victims' Commissioner, the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Authority and in respect of Parish areas.

In accordance with Section 11A (3) of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 (as amended), Durham County Council made a determination to apply a discount of 0% in respect of second and empty furnished homes.

In accordance with Section 11A (4A) of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 (as amended), Durham County Council made a determination to apply a discount of 0% in respect of dwellings defined in Classes C or D.

In accordance with Section 11B (1b) of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 (as amended), Durham County Council made a determination to apply a 100% premium for properties which are empty for more than twelve months and up to 5 years, a 200% premium for properties empty for longer than 5 years and less than 10 years, and a 300% premium for properties empty for longer than 10 years.
