What is happening?
West Lancashire Borough Council – Council Tax 2024/2025
Notice is hereby given that on 28th February 2024, the West Lancashire Borough Council in accordance with section
30 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 set for the chargeable year beginning 1st April 2024 Council Tax Rates
including the Council Tax Rates set by Lancashire County Council, the Lancashire Combined Fire Authority and the Police and
Crime Commissioner for Lancashire.
For dwelling within each property band and situated in those parts of the Councils area to which no special item relates as detailed below: |

The Council resolved to increase the amount of premium charged on Empty properties and Second Homes. Whereby with
effect from 1st April 2024 a Premium Charge of 100% will be applied to Empty properties which have been empty for one to
five years. Following this a Premium of 200% if property left empty for between five to ten years, followed by a Premium of
300% if property is left empty for over ten years. In addition, with effect from 1st April 2025 a Premium Charge of 100% will be
