Newspaper Notice
Land at Gravity Smart Campus. Woolavington, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA7 8AA
Stantec is currently working on behalf of a client who will produce batteries for use in electric vehicles, as well as other mobility and energy storage applications, playing a key part in the UK's transition to net zero. They intend to build a battery manufacturing facility on land at the Gravity Smart Campus, Woolavington, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA7 8AA
As they use chemicals to produce these products, we will be applying for Hazardous Substances Consent from Somerset Council.
We will be liaising closely with the local authorities, Police, Fire and Ambulance services regarding all relevant aspects of Hazardous Substances Consent, including the need to prepare an emergency plan. The main focus is on safety, people and the environment on site and in the neighbouring communities.
Somerset Council, the Hazardous Substances Authority for this application, will decide whether or not to grant consent and whether any consent should be subject to any conditions.
We are currently targeting submission of the Hazardous Substance Consent application on 28th February 2024. Any queries in the interim please contact Jane Hirst, Director, Stantec UK on 07881 012633 or jane.hirst@stantec.com.
Once a valid application is submitted, the Council will consult the relevant bodies and persons affected. You will be able to submit representations to the Council as Hazardous Substances Authority by e-mail to majorprojectsnorth@somerset.gov.uk or by post to F.A.O. Gravity Lead Case Officer, Planning North, Somerset Council, Bridgwater House, King Square, Bridgwater, Somerset TA6 3AR. Hard copies of the relevant application documentation will be available at Bridgwater House reception (address above) between the hours of 8.45am to 5pm Monday to Friday, following the receipt of a valid application for Hazardous Substances Consent.
