GOSPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL

CHANGES TO COUNCIL TAX DISCOUNTS FOR EMPTY PROPERTIES AND SECOND HOMES

On 7th February 2024, Gosport Borough council resolved to make changes to Council Tax Discounts and Premiums effective from 1st April 2024. These changes have been made in accordance with the following legislation: The Levelling-Up and Regeneration Act 2023 Council Tax Premiums for unoccupied and unfurnished properties - With effect from 1st April 2024 properties which have been unoccupied and unfurnished over one year and less than five years will be subject to a 100% premium on the full tax. Second Homes - With effect from 1st April 2025 properties that are periodically occupied and substantially furnished will be subject to a 100% premium on the full tax.
