PROPOSAL TO DISCONTINUE WALBROOK NURSERY SCHOOL AND EXPAND THE AGE RANGE AND SIZE OF PEAR TREE INFANT SCHOOL TO CREATE A SINGLE INFANT AND NURSERY SCHOOL FOR PUPILS AGED 2-7

Part 1
Notice is given in accordance with Section 11 of The School Organisation (Establishment and Discontinuance of Schools) (England) Regulations 2013 that Derby City Council, The Council House, Corporation Street, Derby, DE1 2FS intends to discontinue Walbrook Nursery School, Middleton Street, Derby, Derbyshire, DE23 8QJ from 31 December 2025.

The proposed closure of Walbrook Nursery School is linked to the proposed expansion of Pear Tree Infant School to form a single infant and nursery school for 2 to 7 year olds. 

Part 2
Notice is given that Derby City Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to Pear Tree Infant School, Pear Tree Street, Normanton, Derby, DE23 8PN from 1 January 2026. The proposal is to expand the size and age range of Pear Tree Infant School from 5-7 to 2-7, to form a single infant and nursery school.

The proposed implementation dates are subject to the completion of the new Pear Tree Infant School building.

This Notice is an extract from the Complete Proposals. Copies of the Complete Proposals can be obtained from: School Organisation and Provision Team, Derby City Council, The Council House, Corporation Street, Derby, DE1 2FS. The Complete Proposals can also be accessed on the Council’s website using the following website address: www.derby.gov.uk 

Within four weeks from the date of publication of these proposals, any person may support, object to or make comments on the proposals by sending them to: School Organisation and Provision Team, Derby City Council, The Council House, Corporation Street, Derby, DE1 2FS or by email to school.proposals@derby.gov.uk Comments must be received by 12 February 2024.
