Review of the Inverclyde Council’s Scheme for the
Establishment of Community Councils
Notice is hereby given, that as part of the review of the Scheme
for the Establishment of Community Councils in Inverclyde
(the Scheme) and in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by
Section 53 of the above mentioned Act, the Inverclyde Council
(the Council), having concluded two periods of 8 week public
consultation on proposed amendments to the Scheme, decided at
a Special Meeting held on 28 September 2023 that it proposes to
amend the Scheme and to publish a draft of the proposed amended
Scheme (the Amended Scheme) including proposed community
council areas in the form that it intends to adopt.
The Council now invites comment and representations from the
public on the Amended Scheme and the proposed community
council areas. A copy of the Amended Scheme and a map showing
the proposed community council areas may be downloaded from
the Council’s website on:-
www.inverclyde.gov.uk/communitycouncilreview
or examined at the Council’s Customer Service Centre,
Municipal Buildings, Clyde Square, Greenock, PA15 1LY or any of
the Council’s libraries.
Any person or organisation wishing to make such written
comments or representations may do so by no later than
5pm on 16 November 2023 (the Close of Consultation)
either by email to community.councils@inverclyde.gov.uk
or in writing to the Head of Legal, Democratic, Digital and
Customer Services, Inverclyde Council, Municipal Buildings,
Clyde Square, GREENOCK, PA15 1LX. Please note that the
content of any comments or representations made and the
details of the party or parties making such representations
may appear in a publicly available report to the Council.
After the Close of Consultation, there will be a further Special Meeting
at which the Council will consider any comments or representations
made and may decide to amend the Scheme by adoption of the
Amended Scheme and proposed community council areas.
