EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This is not part of the above Statutory Notice, but is
intended to be explanatory only)
The Road Rate for 2024 is set in accordance with the
Wentworth Estate Act 1964 as amended by the Wentworth
Estate Act 1964 (Road Rate) (Amendment) Regulations
1990. Consequent upon the abolition of domestic rating
under the Regulations, Domestic Net Rateable Values
as at 31st March 1990 (or as subsequently updated) are
multiplied by a calculated factor which gives New Domestic
Net Rateable Values, enabling a uniform Road Rate to
be set for both Domestic and Non Domestic chargeable
hereditaments. The calculated factor (27.4482) maintains
the proportion as at 31st March 2017 of the Net Rateable
Values of the shops and businesses etc. (Classified as
Non Domestic from 1st April 2017) in relation to the total
Net Rateable Value of all chargeable hereditaments.
