What is happening?

MEMBERS' ALLOWANCES

In accordance with the Local Authority (Members' Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 Annual Council in May agreed to reconstitute the Independent Remuneration Panel to review Members' allowances.

The Panel met on 20 June 2023 and recommended to Council a minor amendment to the existing scheme that a Special Responsibility allowance be provided to the Leader of the Green Group in line with the Leader of the other opposition party with the allowance being £1,640, Council considered a report from the Panel at its meeting on 11 July 2023 and agreed the following: That a Special Responsibility allowance of £1,640 be paid to the Leader of the Green Group and that the Member Allowance scheme for 2023/24 be amended accordingly.
