London Gateway Port Berth 4 Construction
Marine Piling Works Public Notification

McLaughlin & Harvey, working on behalf of DP World, has commenced work on the construction of a fourth container berth at DP World London Gateway Port. This investment of £350m at the London Gateway logistics hub will boost the local economy, bolster supply chain resilience and increase capacity to accommodate the world's largest vessels.

A key and critical element of these works is the construction of the new quay wall. These works involve the installation of steel tubular piles through a combination of vibratory hammer and impact hammer piling techniques. This package of works has now fully commenced on-site and is currently programmed to last until July 2023, depending on factors such as tide times and weather conditions.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works and your patience is appreciated. Throughout these works McLaughlin & Harvey will make every effort to minimise noise and disruption and carry out works in compliance with all statutory consents.

Direct measures to mitigate against the noise generated from the piling works include:

• A non-metallic pad being used between the hammer and head of the pile
• No more than six hours of hammering in each 24-hour day
• Noise monitors set up inside and outside the site boundary to continuously monitor and record noise levels to ensure compliance with the Section 61 limits set by the local authority
• Further to the above measures already in place McLaughlin & Harvey will aim to reduce piling after 21:00 wherever possible and continue to work within the times and noise limits of the Section 61

Should you have any concerns about these works, please don't hesitate to contact our site contact number on 07771345744 or through our project email address LGPBerth4@mclh.co.uk

For and on behalf of McLaughlin & Harvey, Conor Gallagher, Civil Engineer
