Pre-Application Community Consultation
Title: Drumnakelly-Tamnamore Upgrade
Proposal:
SONI (System Operator for Northern Ireland) is bringing forward
the Drumnakelly - Tamnamore Upgrade Project. Proposals for the
project include:
An uprate (replacement of existing cables) of the existing overhead line
between Drumnakelly Main Substation and Tamnamore Main Substation,
including replacement of two towers along the double circuit section
(located within Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council
area), replacement of existing structures along the retained single circuit
sections (‘A’ circuit and ‘B’ circuit), installation of a single circuit
underground cable from a new terminal tower in Circuit A to the existing
underground cable section which enters Tamnamore Main Substation,
and recovery of existing single circuit overhead line which runs through
Killyman village (located within Mid Ulster District Council area.)

run between 09 November 2026 and 28 December 2026. Information

The Pre-Application Community Consultation process
provides an opportunity for the public to view plans for this
proposed development, ask questions of the project team
and provide feedback.
If you wish to make comments on the proposals you may do
so at the above events and/or in writing to SONI Ltd, 12 Manse
Road, Belfast, BT6 9RT before 28 December 2026.
