Public Consultation Notice

Proposed Natural Burial Ground and Chapel, South of Stockwood Lane, BS31 2ER

Westerleigh Group invites local residents, businesses and community groups to a public consultation on proposals for a new natural burial ground and chapel to serve South Bristol and North East Somerset.

About the Proposals Westerleigh Group is proposing to develop a natural burial ground and chapel on a 25-acre site south of Stockwood Lane, BS31 2ER.

The proposal aims to provide additional local burial capacity and offer families a natural, peaceful setting in which to remember and commemorate loved ones.

With burial capacity under pressure at a number of existing cemeteries across Bristol and North East Somerset, the proposed development seeks to provide an additional option for local communities, including the opportunity for natural burial.

About Westerleigh Group Westerleigh Group is one of the UK’s leading independent owners and operators of bereavement facilities, with 41 crematoria and a range of natural and traditional burial grounds across the UK. The Group is committed to providing high-quality facilities in beautiful settings, supporting families and friends to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones.

Have Your Say Local residents and other interested parties are invited to attend a public consultation event to find out more about the proposals, speak with members of the project team and share their views.

Date: Wednesday 4 November 2026

Time: 4.00pm-7.00pm

Venue: The Clubhouse, Stockwood Vale Golf Course, Stockwood Lane, Bristol, BS31 2ER

The event will provide an opportunity to learn more about the proposed development, ask questions and provide feedback.

Westerleigh Group welcomes comments and suggestions from the local community, which will help inform the development of the proposals.

We encourage everyone with an interest in the proposals to attend and have their say.

Please contact Matthew Knight-Lewis using email: Matthew.Knight-Lewis@westerleighgroup.co.uk if you would like further information.
