Cambuslang - Proposed Electricity Substation Extension & Network Upgrade
What is planned?
Clydesmill Substation Extension
SP Energy Networks
SP Energy Networks is upgrading the grid in central and southern Scotland. With total electricity demand set to double by 2050, we need a grid that’s ready to meet future energy needs, while boosting the nation’s energy security for generations to come.
To help make this happen we need to extend Clydesmill substation, in Cambuslang, to accommodate new transformers and equipment. This will enable us to increase the voltage on one side of the existing overhead line between our substations at Clydesmill and Denny North, to boost network capacity and get more electricity from where it’s produced to where it’s needed.
SP Energy Networks consulted local people on our proposals in February and March this year. We are now holding a further information event to explain how feedback from earlier consultation and engagement has been considered in the final proposals, ahead of submitting our consent applications:
Monday 2 November, 3pm to 7pm:
Halfway Community Hub, 211 Hamilton Road, Cambuslang G72 7PJ
