The Lewes District (Public Footpaths Wivelsfield 10b (part) and 22b (part) Public Path Diversion Order 2026 (2/2026)


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 29th September 2026 Lewes District Council made the above named order under section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. The effect of the order will be to divert part of the Public Footpath known as Wivelsfield 10b running from TQ 3431 2020 in a west south-westerly direction for 78 metres to TQ 3423 2018 then in a west north-westerly direction for 161 metres to TQ 3408 2022 (A-B-C on the Order plan), to a new route having a width of 2 metres running from TQ 3431 2020 for 23 metres in a north-westerly direction to TQ 3429 2021 (A-F on the Order plan) then for 170 metres in a generally west north-westerly direction to TQ 3412 2023 (F-G on the Order plan) then for 7 metres in a north north-easterly direction to TQ 3412 2024 (G-H on the Order plan) then for 44 metres in a generally north north-westerly direction to TQ 3411 2027 (H-I on the Order plan) and for 16 metres in a westerly direction to TQ 3409 2027 (I-J on the Order plan). And to divert part of the Public Footpath known as Wivelsfield 22b running from TQ 3435 2013 for 35 metres in a south-westerly direction to TQ 3434 2009 (D-E on the Order plan) to a new route having a width of 3 metres running from TQ 3435 2013 for 30 metres in a southerly direction to TQ 3436 2010 (D-K on the Order plan) and for 18 metres in a south-westerly and westerly direction to TQ 3434 2009 (K-E on the Order plan).
The diversion is necessary to enable development to be carried out in accordance with outline planning permission LW/21/0729 which was granted on appeal under reference number APP/P1425/W/22/3305946 by the Planning Inspector on 23rd February 2023 and the reserved matters application LW/24/0178 granted by Lewes District Council under Part III of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 on 14th October 2024 namely, the erection of 96 new dwellings (including 40% affordable) and on-site play area provision.
A copy of the order and plan may be inspected at 6 High Street Lewes BN7 2AD , Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am to 5pm.
Any representations about or objections to the order may be made in writing to the Head of Legal Services, 6 High Street Lewes BN7 2AD no later than 2nd November 2026.
If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Lewes District Council may itself confirm the order as an unopposed order. If the order is sent to the Secretary of State for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the order.
