NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES CONSENT
We give notice that Net Zero Teesside Power Limited is applying to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council for Hazardous Substance Consent to allow for the storage of an inventory of Part 1 - E1 hazardous substances comprising 155 tonnes of Aqueous Ammonia 25%; 2.235 tonnes of Non-oxidising Biocide (Nalco 77352); and 15 tonnes of Sodium Hypochlorite 10%, in connection with and at the site of the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) Project, Teesworks, Redcar, Teesside, TS10 5QW (OS grid ref: NZ 57000 25400).
The NZT Project comprises a number of elements, including a new combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station with post-combustion carbon capture plant as well as gas, electricity and water connections. The NZT Project will connect to a carbon dioxide export pipeline to transport the captured and compressed carbon dioxide from the CCGT power station for secure storage beneath the southern North Sea with a store provided by the Northern Endurance Partnership.
The hazardous substances referenced above are required in connection with the operation and commissioning of the CCGT power station and will be stored within the boundary of the Power Capture and Compression (PCC) Site (the site of the CCGT power station and carbon capture plant) located on land within the former Redcar Steel Works site (now known as Teesworks).
Members of the public may inspect a copy of the application at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Seafield House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar, Teesside, TS10 1SP during business hours (Monday to Friday) until at least 2nd November 2026.
