THE A50 TRUNK ROAD (NEW JUNCTION 3A AND LAYBYS UPGRADE) (TRUNKING) ORDER 202X
THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR TRANSPORT hereby gives notice that they propose to make an Order under sections 10(2) and 12(3) of the Highways Act 1980 which will provide that six new lengths of highway to be constructed north and south of the A50 Derby Southern Bypass, to the east and west of Deep Dale Lane and to the west of Stenson Road (“the new trunk roads”), shall become trunk roads from the date on which National Highways Limited notifies Derbyshire County Council that the new trunk roads are open for traffic.
The new trunk roads will be maintained by Derbyshire County Council until the date on which the new trunk roads are opened for the purpose of through traffic, following which National Highways Limited will be the highway authority for the new trunk roads.
COPIES of the draft Order and the plan referred to in it may be inspected free of charge at all reasonable hours during the six weeks commencing from 11 September 2026 at the offices of Derbyshire County Council at County Hall, Matlock, Derbyshire DE4 3AG, or may be inspected online at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/sdgz.
ANY PERSON may object to the making of the Order within six weeks from the date of first publication of this notice by writing to the Secretary of State for Transport c/o Transport Infrastructure Planning Casework Unit, PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ, or to nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk quoting the title of this Notice and stating the grounds of objection. In preparing an objection and the statement of grounds of objection, it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.
In submitting an objection or representation, it should be noted that your personal data and correspondence will be shared with Derbyshire County Council as the promoting authority for the scheme. Should the Order become the subject of a Public Inquiry all correspondence will be copied to the Inspector conducting the Inquiry and will be kept in the Public Inquiry library, where it is publicly available.
If you do not wish your personal data to be forwarded, please state your reasons when submitting your objection or representation and the Secretary of State will send a copy of your representations, with your name and address removed, to Derbyshire County Council and if there is to be a Public Inquiry they will be seen by the Inspector who may give them less weight as a result. Derbyshire County Council may disclose your objections or representations, with your name and address removed to other parties acting on its behalf.
